Tour Itinerary

Saturday, March 21, 2015:  Overnight Flight to Ireland

Meet your group at the airport for your overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland.

Sunday, March 22: Welcome to Dublin, Ireland

After airport formalities, meet your Irish drivers and Exploring Europe guides to begin your Emerald Isle adventure. We will begin with a scenic coach tour of Dublin City stitching together Dublin’s Viking roots, English domination, and the fight for independence. Then, let’s get out and do a little walking in the historic city center giving you time to see the sights and have lunch. Later, arrive at your hotel for check-in and dinner.   Sleep 2 nights in Dublin. Dinner.

Monday, March 23: Dublin

Today is dedicated to exploring Dublin City.  There is a lot to experience so we will hit the ground running with a walking tour of the notable sites in the historic city center.  The Niceville Chorus will present a Lunchtime Recital at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin City.  You’ll  have the afternoon to break into your chaperone groups to experience Dublin with plenty of opportunities to shop, eat, and enjoy the city. Tonight, we will meet at a favorite restaurant for dinner and possibly a traditional Irish music session. Dinner.

Tuesday, March 24: Glendalough and Kilkenny

Following breakfast, leave the big city behind and begin your journey around the island. The first stop is the ancient monastic site of Glendalough, located in the beautiful Wicklow Mountains. We’ll take a peaceful walk along the lakes and through the forest while learning about the monastery and its role in history. Then, travel to the university town of Kilkenny where you will have some free time to experience the town, castle, cathedral and shops. Enjoy dinner tonight at our award winning hotel restaurant.  Sleep 2 nights in Kilkenny. Dinner.

Wednesday, March 25: Waterford

Today, enjoy a short excursion to nearby Waterford, home of the famed Waterford Crystal. Some may wish to visit the crystal demonstration showroom while others will be content to get in a little shopping and take a walk along the harbor. Return to Kilkenny and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and evening. The town is loaded with restaurants featuring good food and great folk and traditional music sessions.

Thursday, March 26: Blarney and Cork

Blarney Castle, known for its famous “Blarney Stone,” is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland. After an opportunity to “kiss the Blarney Stone,” enjoy a visit to Blarney Woolen Mills. This huge shopping complex is your one-stop spot for authentic Irish arts, crafts, textiles, and apparel. We will set up at our hotel in Cork City tonight. Enjoy the afternoon and a tasty dinner at our hotel.  Sleep in Cork 1 night. Dinner.

Friday, March 27: County Cork and the Kingdom of Kerry

The Irish countryside is beautiful enroute to the west coast and you’ll enjoy the ride!  Time permitting, we will make a lunch stop in Killarnay and then move on to my favorite corner of the island, the Dingle Peninsula. Here, you’ll have two days to experience the wild and scenic countryside that we Americans have come to know as Ireland. Enjoy dinner tonight at our hotel. Sleep 2 nights in Dingle. Dinner.

Saturday, March 28: The Dingle Peninsula

Experience some of Ireland’s wildest natural beauty and oldest pre-historic settlements on our driving tour of the Slea Head. Enjoy endless fields of “40 shades of green,” rock-crashing waves, and all the sheep you’ll ever want to count.  Later, return to Dingle for an afternoon to experience this charming little fishing village. *Tonight, join in the music traditions of County Kerry by presenting a performance of your favorite songs at a local venue.

Sunday, March 29:  The Cliffs of Moher and County Clare

After a breathtaking drive through the coastal mountains, we will follow the River Shannon north to County Clare.  Enjoy a stop at the Cliffs of Moher where you’ll find yourself teetering on the edge of a 700 foot windy cliff perched on the North Atlantic. Then, travel to Galway where you’ll enjoy a walking orientation tour in your chaperone groups. The famous pedestrian streets are lined with shops and eateries where you can enjoy dinner.  The Niceville chorus will present a joint concert with a local choir in the St. Nicholas Church.  Sleep 1 night in Galway.

Monday, March 30:  Galway and Dublin

We’ll leave the morning to experience Galway and get in some last minute souvenir shopping. Then, let’s head back across the island to Dublin making several scenic stops enroute. Arriving at our Dublin airport hotel we’ll have one final dinner to celebrate our trip around the Emerald Isle. Sleep 1 night near Dublin airport. Dinner.

 Tuesday, March 31: Heading Home

Your tour ends today.  Enjoy your homeward journey and cherish the memories made on your tour to Ireland!   Sláinte!
