Sunday, March 24:  Arrival in Germany

After airport security clearance, meet your bus and driver to begin your European adventure. Heidelberg, a bustling university town, is a charming introduction to the Rhine River region.  Enjoy a few hours visiting the town, its castle, and  getting into the European frame of mind.  Later, travel to Rothenburg ob der Taüber, an authentic medieval walled town.  After settling into your hotel, enjoy a few hours to relax.  Later, we will meet at our hotel for dinner.  Sleep in Rothenburg for 2 nights.

 Monday, March 25:  Rothenburg

Enjoy a full day to explore this delightful town.  Options include: a walk around the medieval town walls, shopping for all things German and Christmas at the many themed shops, and relaxing in the city park or at a café. Dinner served at our hotel.

Outdoor Band Performance: Rothenburg Market Square

Choral Performance: St. Jakob’s Church

 Tuesday, March 26:  Strasbourg

Today we will zip along the famous Autobahn in our supercharged Mercedes bus! Crossing the Rhine River, enter France and soon set up in Strasbourg for the evening.  Enjoy a walking tour of the traffic-free old town and your first taste of French cuisine at dinner.  Sleep in Strasbourg for 1 night.

Wednesday, March 27:  Alsace to Burgundy

Travel through the French-German region known as Alsace, almost, but not quite, entering Switzerland.  We then will make a bee-line along the scenic Jura Mountains arriving in Burgundy in time for lunch.  Enjoy a leisurely afternoon in the pedestrian-friendly town of Beaune.  Known for its fine wine, gourmet food, and culinary shops, Beaune is a great place to spend a few days. Tonight, enjoy a typical French menu serving culinary specialties of the region.  Sleep 2 nights in Beaune.

Thursday, March 28:  Beaune and the countryside of Burgundy

Highlights today include: a bus tour of the countryside, a walking tour through the vineyards of the côte d’or, quaint villages, and free time for shopping in Beaune.

Outdoor Band and Jazz Choir Performance: Beaune Place Carnot Bandstand

Friday, March 29:  Paris

It is about a four hour drive to Paris, and we’ll get an early start to make the most of the day.  The Latin Quarter and Notre Dame Cathedral top the list for our touring this afternoon.  Today is “Good Friday,” a very special day in Paris.  The cathedral’s most cherished relic, Jesus’ Crown of Thorns, is placed on display in Notre Dame Catherdral.  Enjoy a fantastic meal and a scenic cruise along the Seine River to top off your first day in Paris. Sleep in Paris 3 nights.

 Saturday, March 30:  Paris

This morning, visit the Louvre Museum for a look at what some consider to be the world’s best collection of art.  After lunch, enjoy a stroll up the famous Champs Élysées for some chic shopping.  Then, enjoy a culinary feast at a sunset picnic under the Eiffel Tower on the famous Champs du Mars followed by a trip up the Eiffel Tower.

 Easter Sunday, March 31: Paris

We will leave the morning open for several options.  Some may wish to attend Easter Mass, others might enjoy a “brunch” at a local café. Then again, why not sleep in a bit!  In the afternoon, visit the “bohemian” village of Montmartre for a look at Paris and the traditions of vagabond artists’ and musicians in the early 1900’s.  Later, enjoy a grand Parisian dinner to cap off your Panther Chorus and Band tour experience.

Visiting the Louvre Museum can wear out even the most avid art lover. The museum and former palace covers almost 100 acres of prime Paris landscape and contains 35,000 objects d’art. Without a plan, one could wander in search of the top twenty “must-see” pieces for hours on end.

I can help! It makes sense to plan your visit to a museum with as much thought as goes into planning your entire trip. Download my FREE “Best of the Louvre” Walking Tour and Guide and see all the “biggies” with ease.
