David has designed a perfect trip to see highlights of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He has obviously developed great relationships with the hotels we stayed in, and has found the best possible attractions and restaurants to visit during the 13 days. Highly recommend this trip to all! May favorite experience was hiking in Switzerland.
The Best of Germany, Austria & Switzerland Tour - If you want a passive tour where a shuttle drives you to every location, look elsewhere. Otherwise if you are like me, and want to experience cities / towns / countryside on foot, this is a tour for you. On most days, we had plenty of time to explore city centers, eat at street side cafes, and even stop by small supermarkets for drinks. Knowing some German definitely helps, as that I could ask locals for directions whenever we wandered off the stereotypical tourist path.
My WOW moments were hiking up to the ruined castle of Duerstein, a small herd of cows (with cow bells) walking through Lauterbrunnen, and watching surfers in Munich.
Some of the hotel rooms and group dinners could be better, but otherwise overall it was a great experience. Our tour guide had a great sense of where the best breweries were. Many evenings were spent drinking beer while watching the sun set over the Alps.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland Tour - April 2018 - This tour was a breath of fresh air. After being on several tours with a wake-up time before dawn and on and off a bus until evening, I felt that I did not miss out on anything in any of the places we visited, while still having some time to process everything we saw and have time to relax. David did an excellent job of making sure we got to see the highlights of each place and then made recommendations for other sites to see on our own. It was nice to have 2 days in most places, one day guided and the second open for us to choose our own adventures. He was available for advice and questions. The hotels we stayed at were very comfortable. The food was excellent.
Most memorable to me was Vienna and Switzerland. Would definitely tour with him again.
Christmas Markets- December 2017 - This tour was everything we dreamed about-snow, enjoyable travel companions, hotels, delicious food and a good mixture of shopping and touring. It was so exciting waking up to each day’s adventures!! One of our "wow" moments was being at all the different places from the Sound of Music. Would have liked to see inside of the house after just viewing the movie. But just seeing places where the movie was made was special. Also Kathe Wolfart store in Rothenburg!!
We have done some travel in the past and David and Charlotte were two of our favorite tour guides. Both, caring and professional. And they made us feel so comfortable touring in a foreign land. Peter, our driver, was a fantastic driver and we were so glad he joined us for meals.
We were happy with all our rooms at the hotels, however, we found the folded duvets unique but we slept well every night. Everything was so clean.
Our favorite meal was the Italian restaurant in Munich. We were so pleased with cities and restaurants. This tour lived up to all our expectations!!
Christmas Markets Tour - This was a fantastic trip - very informative and a lot of fun with a GREAT group of people! My favorite wow moment was the snow covered mountains in Austria followed closely by the little Christmas market outside of Salzburg at Hellbrunn. It was snowing and we got photos with snow-covered Christmas trees.
Our bus driver, Peter, was an absolutely fantastic person even if his English was not very good. Of course, his English was a heckuva lot better than our German!
Meals were really good for the most part. A couple of the hotel breakfasts - especially the one in Salzburg - left a little to be desired. I had questions about what some of that "stuff" was and whether it was intended for human consumption or not! The Italian dinner on our last night was the absolute best meal. All dinners were good, but that was outstanding.
The hotels were great once you got used to the fact they like small bathrooms in Europe!
The Best of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - The tour was outstanding. All the trip was wonderful. We enjoyed it completely. The mountains in Switzerland were amazing.
The Best of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - It was the trip of a lifetime. The attention to detail that David takes each day is amazing. We saw things that we would have never seen without David's expertise. I loved it. There was not a WOW moment, it was WOW moments. When we were in Austria, I was sure that nothing could top my "Favorite Things" but then on to Switzerland and walking in the ALPS another WOW moment. Then Germany and Rothenburg and I could have stayed for days. When I thought that was my WOW moment, we drove up to a chateau in Normandy. We would have never found that without David. And then a final topper was Paris. What can I say but WOW WOW WOW. Thanks!
A note from David - After the GAS tour, Judith arranged for Charlotte and me to take them on a private tour to Normandy and Paris. We could do this because we are small enough to be personable and able to customize travel experiences to meet the needs of our clients.
The Best of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - I loved the way my tour to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland was organized. Of all the destinations, I think hiking in the Alps may have been with "wow" moment.
GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND-FRANCE - I’d have to say that Paris was the best as there was so much to see and experience and the food was very good. I was very impressed with the amount of information David shared with us daily and how knowledgeable David is regarding each of the countries and the sites that we visited.
GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND-FRANCE –Well worth the money spent!!! We enjoy going with David on trips because we KNOW the food will be GREAT & the hotels will be nice! Really enjoyed the time in the Paris neighborhood where we shopped for our picnic. The cheese shop was amazing, as was the aged Sheep’s milk cheese from France that we purchased there!
The Best of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland - The overall tour was outstanding! We had a great time and our guide, Andy, did a wonderful job guiding us. The Alps were my "wow" moment, The day we were there it was sunny and from 9744 feet we could see forever. Alysia got to paraglide this day, an adventure she will never forget. Peter was or driver and he did an excellent job, he kept us on time and shared many stories.

GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND-DUBLIN – The diversity of our group form the newbie teenagers to the well-traveled ladies was great. I learned so much from both. Very thoughtful when coming to issues of courtesy to our hosts, money, customs of the country. David’s calmness was greatly appreciated. Walking right in line, not having to buy tickets was a great plus. Your guides of Dachau and the Louvre were right on and helped to make the visit much more enjoyable. Packing light paid off. I am glad I did not have to lug a lot of baggage the whole time. We had talked about wifi for the bus as a potential plus. Having brewed coffee and a refrigerator was great (on the bus). Newsletter good for whetting the appetite for traveling. More Museli! Never can get enough of it. The dining was all good. Nothing can replace the time at K&K in Salzburg. The restaurant was empty. Just a few people sharing food and conversation. The food was the icing on the cake for a wonderful experience all around. Salad with huge slices of parmesan cheese. Sea bass that was exquisite and apple tart. Trying to serve a group of 26 effectively is difficulty. I saw the waitresses really working to serve us well. Thanks again for an awesome trip.
GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND-FRANCE – All meals were very good (much better than meals experienced on river cruise after tour with David.) Swiss dinner in Salzburg was favorite evening meal. My favorite was dinner in Salzburg with small group. Picnic in park at Eiffel Tower was unique & something not normally offered by tours, but I liked it!
Christmas Market Tour - This was my 5th tour with David to Europe and he never disappoints. This trip was different than the rest because it was focused on the Christmas markets...nevertheless, I had a fantastic time! David always finds a great balance of hitting the mandatory "touristy" locations and allowing us the freedom to go off on our own and explore the cities we're visiting.
A favorite moment was as we were driving from Innsbruck to Reutte, Austria through the countryside, there was a moment as the sun was setting and the trees opened up that you could see a small town tucked away in the snowy mountains and it was a perfect photo op! It was so beautiful and it makes you appreciate how different of a lifestyle the locals live compared with Americans and how stunning the landscape was that time of year!
THE BEST OF GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND-FRANCE – Probably my most favorite part of the tour – having someone else pick the restaurant!! Usually, when I go to Europe with my husband we wander around in circles for a prolonged amount of time studying menus and trying to find the “perfect” place. Tedious and exhausting. It was so nice to just have the perfect restaurant already picked out. I know this is not an easy task to try to accommodate multiple people’s picky food preferences, so hats off to Dave for being up to the challenge. And every meal I had was delicious!! Dave knows what he’s doing.
Germany and Austria - David thought of everything and made the tour very enjoyable. Our driver, Peter, had a wonderful personality and was extremely knowledgeable. All the hotels were clean and the staff was helpful and in general friendly. David will be our exclusive tour director if we journey outside America.
THE BEST OF GERMANY-AUSTRIA-SWITZERLAND – David’s tour ran very smooth. Great hotel rooms with breakfast each morning. He gave informative tours of the cities and areas we visited and then we had time on our own to visit in more detail or go shopping (my favorite activity anywhere). David was happy to stop along the way for photo opps and rest stops. We did check out some new sites with him. Each day was an adventure filled with great food, wine, and sites. Loved every moment of the trip. Planning next adventure with him now.
